debugger and OpenConsole()

I just noticed, when using PrintN() that the debugger will halt the program and complain if I haven't previously used OpenConsole(), but with the debugger off and no OpenConsole() PrintN() works just fine. Just thought that I'd point that out.

Note: I don't know if this anomaly exists in the newer releases, I'm still using 4.50.

I'm using the new 5.0 and I'm getting zero output. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but no one appears to care much about Linux users... growing increasingly frustrated. The whole *reason* I bought the licence was for Linux support: now it appears, there actually is none. It's very Windows-centric.

That simply isn't true.

At the risk of being banned for life by Fred, I tried to help you but you seem to run off at tangents and don't address the points being made. Several others helped you previously, and besides that, most of the people who can help you are probably on a different side of the planet to you so, you know, you need to wait for people to get out of bed. Also, it's Sunday night where I am, and some of the people who can help you have lives outside of the internet.

The book you are using is way out of outdate. It's for PB4 and you are using PB5. On the compiler menu select Create Executable and run the samples from the command line.
It's very Windows-centric.
That's hardly surprising... http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_os.asp

However it does not mean there is no support for the Linux version.

I stand corrected.

Please point me to a Getting Started manual for 5.0 ... if you could be so kind. I don't wish to pollute the treads with my ranting... I didn't realise there was such a Huge Shift from 4.x to 5. :oops:

I'm kind-of looking more in this direction:

...with the idea of developing apps to run in Android and iOS. Might be a bit ahead of myself, perhaps... :)
