Nobody can help me??? Pity. I think most of you don't know what a coliehat is. It's a little 'control stick' and looks a little bit like a small hat and shows 8 directions. It's used with the thumb. It's located at the top of the big control stick. Do you now know what I mean???

afaik allegro supports various joystick controls (incl. the cooliehat).
studying the lib could help you: http://alleg.sourceforge.net/

the win32sdk multimedia api reference describes joyGetPosEx(), which can also be used to retrieve point-of-view flags (JOYINFOEX structure / JOY_POV*) that are generated by a cooliehat (at least i think so, i don't even own a joystick) - though this might not be the fastest way

there'll also be some info in the direct-x sdk for sure...

hope this helps a bit.
