Windows 7 Task Manager bug

Try to set the option "Always on top" to on

TM (Task Manager) will be above other normal windows, you can check that, it works as expected.

Now CLOSE the TM.

Now invoke TM again. The option "Always on top" is still active, but it's not working, try with any normal window and they will overlap it. Disable/Enable the option and it's working again.

Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit.

Can you confirm this ?

And if you do, you confirm also there is no way in the world to let MS know about that so they could fix it ?

Works fine here on Windows 7 x64 with installed all updates through Windows Update.

Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, no problem here.

I think we need other people with Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit to test this.

I have Windows 7 Home premium (32 bit) and I don't experience any problems here either.

Guys, I just tried in a virtual machine with Win7 x64.
I tried in another VM a Win7 x86 in another language.
I tried again on my real machine.

The problem is there. But I don't understand when it's happening. If I play with the other two options in the same menu (minimize on use, hide when minimized) and with the original one, opening and closing TM at a certain point give the problem I mentioned... so it's not simple as I thought in my first post, sorry.

If I'll understand I'll report here... no big issue at this point, it's not easy to make this happen.

And to me eventually happen when I'm not trying....

Sorry guys, don't waste your time on this, I'll try again maybe tomorrow and if I can understand how it's happening in a reproducible way I'll post.

I'm sorry I should have checked better, it's not good to waste other people time if one can't give precise instructions, my apologies. :?

I don't think that edition (Starter, Home Basic/Premium, Professional, Enterprise, Ultimate) is important, because core is same in all of them, only difference is in included programs (and their configuration/limitations). So when we know exactly how to reproduce this bug, we can confirm it on all editions on x86 and x64 as they are same code base since Windows Vista.

But i have been wrong before... :) Image

There is more behind the scenes then just the extra programs, configuration is one, the extra security is another.
