Rewriting Network Packets

I'm trying to find out how I can rewrite networkpackets, to write an adblocker with PB.

I don't want to use the hostfile, or browserbased plugins... but something like this program :

http://www.admuncher.com/faq.shtml

Admuncher rewrites packets, as it works with all browsers, without installing plugins for these browsers.

Anyone done something like this before ?

Appreciate your input !

I think that last entry in FAQ says all what you need to know.
FAQ wrote:Q: Why does my firewall say Ad Muncher is making "server" and outbound connections?
A: This is just how Ad Muncher filters your browser's transfers. When your browser tries to connect to a web server, it is instead connected to the local Ad Muncher program (hence why it is creating a listening ("server") connection). Ad Muncher then connects out to the original target of the browser, which accounts for the outbound connections. These connections are perfectly normal and no cause for concern, the listening sockets are of no use to anyone except the programs on your computer trying to connect out.
Personally, i would rather use browser plugin than this program.

Are you saying AdMuncher works as a local proxy (proxomitron) ?

AdMuncher is basically a glorified hostfile in a way. You could call it a local specialized proxy.
