I'm far behind on the Vista-related compiler options, could someone explain these two?

Apparently Admin Mode lets you write to restricted folders,
and User Mode disables file redirection.
But you cannot select both at once?

For a backup program that might copy any folder to any other folder, what options should I use?

Also I use a registry function to associate a file type... how might this be affected?

You can only use one of this. For your Backupprogram use AdminMode.
