Hi! I am still a PB beginner, and am writing a simple audio loop sequencing package. It's doing quite well in it's current state (200-300 downloads per day on http://www.download.com - search for QLB Loop Sequencer) but it's still very basic and would like to add several features to it. At the moment I don't think I can do it with regular PB commands, but I am pretty sure that I can do it with Direct Sound API (someone told me this was possible). I do not know much (anything!) about API, and can't find any information or guides in the forums or the guide that comes with PB. Can anyone offer me any advice on how to use Direct Sound API in PB? Any advice/tutorials is greatly appreciated!

I posted this tip in the Tricks 'N' Tips section, but I don't know if it'll
help... there are probably better ways to do it (with error-checking, etc).
As it stands, just use the code as shown to play wav files.

Code: Select all

PlaySound_("c:\sound.wav",0,#SND_ASYNC) ; App continues after sound starts.
PlaySound_("c:\sound.wav",0,#SND_SYNC) ; App pauses until sound stops.

Thanks for your help guys! Also, I found a great site with a good tool to help loacte API information - http://www.allapi.net - it lists over 800 api commands and you can search for specific types. I am learning, but it still looks like randomness to me :) Once again, thanks!
