Purebasic Book

Hi.
Bought "Purebasic - A Beginner’s Guide To Computer Programming" this Christmas (the printed version, not the e-book). When I started to read the book, its full of # signs. It looks like the font they used to print the book is missing special or accented characters and they are replaced by a an "empty square" sign that makes the text hard to read (the "empty square" is sometimes printed over the text).
Would have included a picture of the text but I am new to this board.
Are there more users that have had the same problem?
Should i return the book?
(I live in Sweden so shipping cost will be too high i guess).

What you describe is certainly not acceptable.
Returning the book would be the remedy of choice here, but, as you point out, some hard realities defeat that purpose.
Have you thought of contacting the author or the publisher ?
Once informed of the bad product you received, they'll probably feel as unhappy as you about the situation and will most likely be willing to offer you an acceptable remedy.
Good luck !

Well Dan... the # sign is used to designate Constants like #RED and #BLUE and #BUTTON_something...
But the hollow square? Hmmm that sounds serious... you had better scan a 1/4 of a page and post it. Just save it as a Greyscale JPG! (something from chap 1 which is the history of PB should be OK since you can download that off Kale's site anyway!)
You can either post the Image itself with the following keywords

or pst the link just by typing it!

yo Rook... he can't post links and pictures with less than 20 posts or so...
I suggest contacting Kale directly, he could help.

You need to contact lulu.com and ask them what's gone wrong. You can do this from your accounts page. This is something i have not heard of before.

Thanks for your help.
Sorry for not been able to post images but it looks like the font the book is written in is missing characters like ´`'". Instead of those there is an hollow square sign. In text it looks like this:
Here, I#ve used the #RGB()# command inline as a parameter of the #Box()# command.
Don't know how to type a hollow square so i used the # sign instead. There are no problem to read the text, it just looks a little strange. The text with sourcecode have another font and it is correct.
I will try to contact "lulu.com". The book was a Christmas gift so I did not buy it myself.

It would perhaps help others who may find themselves in the same position if you outline how you resolved the problem? Have the publishers sent you a new book etc?

It turned out to be just a matter of buying new glasses...

(particularly blueznl's illuminating explanation)
The joke's on us, however: Dama seems to have disappeared forever, maybe hiding in a closet reading his new book...

and no longer sharing with us.
