Sorry for the recent outage of the forums. It looks like they were down for around 18 hours - My backup script failed early this morning (my fault), but I've been out all day and have only just discovered the problem. They were actually still there, only kind of hidden. Basically, my script renames the forum to "purebasic_", backs all files up and then restores the directory name. This only takes around 5 minutes usually! I back up the PB forums nightly now, as the volume of daily data has increased significantly lately. You never can be too cautious.

It's the first time I've ever had a slip up since the forums began. I still can't apologise enough though.

Thanks to all who emailed me to let me know of the problem.

Leigh.

Yeah, it seemed that way, so soon after...

But during the downtime I went to the root of the URL and noticed the revamped
Archon project going on... GOOD STUFF! Any idea of a release date, Leigh?

Hi PB.

Hopefully, the first beta is not too far of now. The big hold up at the moment is the volume of animation frames required - Each icon requires 160+ frames!

Always good to hear from people who appreciate the original Archon.

Holy cow!

I still play it to this day with the CCS64 emulator.

When I was younger, my brother and I were playing it on a real C64, and he was
beating me. When it looked like he was going to win, I purposely broke my
joystick just so the game couldn't end! LOL...

We've been waiting a LONG time for your new Archon ... how long until we at least get a taste?

Sounds good.

Speaking of C64 conversions, lovers of Impossible Mission should start wetting
their pants over this little page that I found today:

What can I say? Some good games coming out in the near future...

It's been 6 years since that post, but now in 2008, here is an update:

About bloody time, Leigh!

There's nothing wrong with bringing up an old thread when it becomes relevant again.

For those who don't know, Leigh was the original maintainer and hoster of these
forums, so it's thanks to him that these forums existed in the beginning. I don't
know what happened to his Archon game that made it go 6 years without an
update, but I'm glad it finally happened.

So to those of you who are impatient for PureBasic updates: you can see that Fred
releases them quite often compared to some developers! ;)

I wondered where the sudden increase in visits to my site came from :)

Thanks for remembering me (and the old days) PB - Appreciated.

I'll be removing the Archon: Evolution download from my site within the next 24 hours. It will not be (officially) available for download ever again.

My reasons for taking this action will become clear in the next week or so. All I will say is that exciting times are ahead for any fan of Archon.
