I can't wait until flash drives are ubiquitous enough to be thrown/given away.

Where do you put it? I don't have a slot on my computer that'll take it so it can't be computer related!

@Kaeru: I have one of those but it is about 10" (23cm?) on each side! marked IBM

I have smaller ones that make my Atari 800XL go Ding!

yes, those are even older.

I also remember the Cards....

they were used for programming linewise or entering data linewise.
a program was a set of hundereds of cards these days.
it was sheer hell when the got in wrong order...
I was a little boy then, but my father was programming an IBM-Mainframe in the 70ies.

and in the early 80ies we used simple music-cassettes as magtape for the C64.....

I have an Abacus! I admit that it's not the latest far-eastern model, but it does the job as a paperweight.

yeah, an Abacus is cool, timeless in it's functionality.

also a slide rule is a handy thing, if you can handle it.

Imagine, you are stuck somewhere in Africa, your batteries of your pocket-calc are low,
you have no power-supply for your laptop, but you need to calculate the tubes for an irrigation-system...
you would be glad to have a slide rule...

*foams and twitches at the power of... the slide rule!*
