PureBasic for Solaris

Hi,
I have a little wish again.
Please, make a version for solaris.
It is based on Unix like Linux. Maybe, it's possible to modify the linux version for Solaris.

Maybe not what you want, but I was able to run PureBasic 4.10 (Linux) on Solaris with CrossOver Server. Functionality was limited to command-line applications only though.

True, Solaris ist POSIX-compatible and some sort of "unix".
But it has it's own kernel, even if the GNU-Toolchain, as well as the Linux-Standard-Tools seem to run upon Solaris. And yes, there is a Gnome-Port and some more.
But I don't think this is an easy task, since lots of kernel-API-Calls will be different from Linux.
Though, it would be really cool to have it on Solaris also.
Or maybe BSD?

Yes, since Gnome and GTK are running upon it. PureBasic uses GTK for Displaying Windows and Gadgets.
This won't be the problem, SDL also might be already ported to Solaris, but
the internals ...
Things like the File-Lib, File-System, Library, Memory, Thread,.. have to be ported to the Solaris-Kernel and it's calls. Not an easy task, I think.

Porting to AIX would make more sense since the MAC OSX port was developed for the pre-intel PPC version of the MAC and IBMs AIX runs on the same processor.

Solaris is GPL (or nearly the same), so everyone can use it freely.
But how many ppl do have an AIX license!?

You're right. But Solaris as a free OperatingSystem is very young. I won't doubt, it will get more users within a few years.
How many people are seriously using Linux and intend to develop applications with PB on it? 10, 20 maybe even 50?
But basically I think commercial apps will never reach such a great userbase on free OperatingSystems. It's a philosophical issue and it won't matter much, if it is Linux, Solaris, *BSD, Syllable, Atheros, ReactOS or anything else.
We "GNU" people tend to use free software on a free OS.
So the request is a nice try, but really pointless - that doesn't mean, that I would be unhappy if there was a PB release for Solaris or another Unix flavour.

While support for Solaris and other OS's would be nice, PB has an extremely small development team (Fred and Freak) and I would much rather see support for a vastly more popular OS such as Mac OSX be brought up to the feature/quality level of the Windows version first.

I guess we'll respectfully agree to disagree then, but I don't see it as any mystery why the Windows version of PureBasic is the most refined and evolved version.

I asked for this some time in the past. It would be great to be able to program PB on Solaris.
I have used PB to develop a lot of utilities and pieces of larger programs where I work. Many of our servers are Solaris and it would be nice to be able to develop custom PB tools on those servers as well.
This option would help position PB as a true business development language and not just a "language for hobbiests".
You would be surprised how many sun Solaris servers are out there and now that it has been open sourced, the number of Solaris users could grow very fast.
