About the PureBASIC book: Hi, the author, are you here?

I think many people here know the book "PureBASIC: A Beginner's Guide to Programming".

Do its author or publisher hanging out in this forum? I am writing these here because I can't find a correspondence in its homepage (http://www.pb-beginners.co.uk).

1) The "buy it" links seems broken.
2) And is there a cheaper ( I mean "significantly" cheaper) electronic version of this book? So I, who ain't a rich guy  , can have a hope to get it.

Hey, the author, are you here?

Oh, BTW, are there any people here who read the book? Is it good?

What are you on about?

see the big button on the right, it says:

"Click here to buy a copy from www.lulu.com"

Clicking on there, it then gives you the option of the printed book for £19.52 or the e-book for £12.50, add to cart and away you go.

I haven't got it personally, as I'm not a beginner at programming, but those who do have it say it's very well written.

The book is excellent. I bought the pdf version which brought me up to speed in about a week with my limited programming experience. Now I can program better than ever before!

The author goes by the handle "Kale" and does post on this forum infrequently.

You may be able to get his attention with a forum PM.

Very good book. I own the print version. Good for beginners or experts. Definitely something for everybody. Helped me understand the changes in 4.0 and it also helped me figure out how to do something that had been stumping me for years.

I should note that the version I bought was sold via Cafepress, and not the current Lulu version. That said, I have bought other print books from Lulu and been VERY impressed by the quality of what Lulu puts out. Top-notch production.

That's very kind of you. I have severely myopic eyes yet I can see the "big button". I didn't say "there are not any button", I said that the link was broken. I click it but it takes me nowhere. I tried it in FireFox and IE6. The results were the same, a blank screen...

Great book, The ebook has stuff for PB v4, not sure about the printed version (harder to update I guess). Maybe someone who has it can comment.

Kale did a "Goodbye cruel world" in the off topic section. Shame, I thought he was funny but I suspect some found his humour a little harsh or insulting and blamed him for some of the flame wars. ( rumours of some nasty PMs that flew around during all that too). Twas almost a PB schizm!

His return has been proficised though when the full moon falls on a leap year Feb and the planets align above stonehenge

The book was originally written for 4.0. Both versions are the same and updating the PDF is no different than updating the print version. When one gets updated, the other gets updated. That is the magic of POD publishing

Actually both versions are now at revision 4. There were a few typo's and layout fixes, nothing major.

As stated above http://stores.lulu.com/kalekold is now the preferred outlet.

Hi Kale, the author. I haven't seen you in a while. :)

When I recommend PureBasic to my friends I always recommend that they buy a copy of your book to help them get up to speed quick. I know it helped me a lot.

Thanks!

Thanks, I've had a bit of a sabbatical due to some ...disagreements... with other community members. I hope now that in my absence, each post no longer ends in a flame war?

I had given up on PB and the community and primarily started using C# and VS2005, but then i needed to do something on my linux pc and broke out PB. I actually forgot how freaking awesome Purebasic is! It really does rock hard!

So here i am again.
