Listening to radio 2!

Sorry,
I'm going to share this 'cause I can't stop laughing, having just heard this on the radio.
Course it helps if you're familiar with the growing gang culture in the UK, the 'oh so politically correct' nature of our education system and, well as an ex-teacher myself...
...and we will be discussing the new directive issued to schools in which students are to be given time every day for transcendental meditation. The idea being for them to take some time out to contemplate their place in the universe.
Of course it is also designed to ensure that they don't stab each other!
Perhaps I shouldn't be laughing, as there are indeed knife related problems in schools, but I can't help myself! A class of 30+ sixteen year old boys from the back end of beyond sitting cross legged whilst contemplating the universe...
Oh crap, now why didn't they do that when I was at school? Perhaps I wouldn't have turned into quite the knife wielding maniac that I am today!
Anyone fancy a slice of cake?
(srod does his Hannibal Lectar impression - tututututututu!

This country has reached a new low.
At least until the Government comes up with it's next gem, then we'll reach an even lower low.
Of course it is also designed to ensure that they don't stab each other!
How will it
ensure that then?

Isn't it obvious?
Listening further, it's not a directive as yet; it's a recommendation from David Lynch of all people! Apparently it's being done in America with a drastic reduction in school stabbings and shootings!

Then again, I recall a few teachers who would have benefitted from some meditation!
Sorry, not meditation; I meant a bash over the head with an iron bar. I always get those two mixed up!

Edit. I've got it now....while the kids are meditating you go over them with an handheld metal detector and remove any weapons you find.

I agree. I had some really highly strung teachers.

I think its all the fault of child line - until then kids had respect, now they perceive they have all the rights (and therefore all the power) and becuse they're only kids they abuse it.
I would hate to be a teacher today....

How about they try disco dancing.
I saw a documentary a few days ago where they are trying disco dancing in one of the toughest male prisons in the Philippines and is seems to have stopped all criminal activity in the prison.
It may be brining out those female hormones men are supposed to have, because the prisoners sure looked like they were enjoying it.

Maybe it's all that ABBA & BeeGee's music that calms them...

Derek, no, no, no thats not what I mean. I was attempting to do an iconic representation of the HimaLayers. This of course also ties in very closely to the average 16 y/o boys overwhelming desire to explore downunder @ the Franklin gorge on the map of Tasmania. ....
