Ok, I was not able to create a program which runs on the iPod (becaus Fred "forgot" to make a PureBasic for the iPod, or could it be apples fault...) but maybe you'll like the tools...

You want an encyclopedia on yor iPod? The Wikipedia for instance? Forget it (if you don't want to hack your gadget)! But a simpler library one, the Trivopaedia is also fine - and this can be made easily with one of my tools :P

Next step, a world atlas: I did also a genious program converting large pictures into smaller parts which can be viewed easily on (new) iPods

And here you'll get these superb tools for the iPod: http://sudokuprogram.googlepages.com/iPod

Of course, there's one hitch... the Trivopeadia.txt is the german version only, you have to download your language version from the web...

Even if I don't have an IPod, I have something pretty similar. iPodMapper is a pretty cool program :).

It's a cheap IPod copy, running a chinese Actions chipset (24 MHz). I think it's called Uxcell Glacier. The price is somewhere around 40$ for a 1gb player and it's got everything you'll ever need: mp3 player (wav, ogg), video player, recorder, fm tuner, picture viewer, even games and the picture is very sharp. If you want to get one, I suggest you head for this website here:

http://www.uxcell.com/mp4-player-lcd-1g ... -3379.html

The others, including e-bay sales for these players are conning people (aka you buy a 4 gb player and they send a hacked 1 gb one).

I am very satisfied with the one I have and it hasn't made any problems yet (6 month old). The main reason I prefer this over an IPod is that you don't have any DRM stuff like ITunes to bug you...

Well you could just install Linux on your iPod... Not sure PB on the Linux side will work or not, but there is a basic specifically for this setup of Linux on the iPod. Here's the URL to it all:

http://ipodlinux.org/Main_Page

Or if you're just interested in getting more function and features out of your iPod, you can try out RockBox instead, which is here:

Hi,
just some thoughts about iPod & Co:

@Inf0Byt3 - nice gadget (and cool advertisement picture )

'bout DRM... there are some quite good programs (I am using MediaMonkey) are doing a fine job with the iPod (also the new models), so that's not a big problem...
