Ok, time for my little review:
** The Good **
- Graphics are very well done and fit perfectly for this game or this style in general. I could not think of any other way how to do it better, it just fits. The usage of particle and blending effects are nice as well and in the proper amount.
- You can control the whole game with the joypad so lazy peeps like me are not forced to press a single key!
- The auto-fire feature is very handy
- Creative bonus system
- A level editor, a big plus!
- I like the bullet/laser sprites and it's different power modes. Oldskool.
** The Bad **
- The music doesn't fit at all. It reminds of "Animal Crossing" or a cheap porno flick. It needs to be far more action paced or "spacy".
- The music and sound effects volume levels are far to unbalanced. The music is way to quiet where as the sound effects almost sound distorted.
- You really need to add a trigger flag when pressing the weapon switch button. It keeps on changing the mode as long as you hold down the button. It's anyoing because I keep on holding the fire button and switch button simultaneously when needed/in a hurry.
- it seems like levels are designed to assume that to the end the player has almost a fully powered up weapon. If your weapon is reset to default mode it's really hard to keep track of the enemies without dieing to quickly.
** The "I'm not so sure" **
Even the first boss seems to be a real tuff mofo, no?
** The Resumé **
A very good and solid oldskool shoot 'em up.
