PureFPS [source code included]

This is a little weekend project I did to test some
PB3D thingies .....

Media and some source code ripped from
Puresokoban .... I hope he doesn't mind :)

This is just to test/demonstrate PB 3D
and play a little Death Match game.

Sure, the graphix are bad ....
sure, they seem to move too slow
sure, the AI is very simple ....

But this seems to work

It has all the usual FPS controls .... WASD ...
Mouse Look ...

On game launch, it asks for host or join
If you host, and nobody joins, the other 3 players
will switch to AI and attack player 1 .....

If, at any time a player should join, the AI
gets dissabled until all players leave

There is no scoring or health or anything ....
For rockets, I just use PB particles (to see how they look in use)
In PB3.9, rotating them does nothing I was hoping to "point"
the direction the particles leave ......

Anyway, enjoy. If there is a severe problem, let me know and maybe I'll
fix it. I only go online once a week.

http://archonrpg.com/zips/PureFPS.rar

I still think these links won't work. The issue seems to be the network I am using. It seems to drop packets or timeout on large files 2MB???
I'll see about a better one next week.
Thanks for trying though.

Oh;
If you wish to change comm ports, you can do that in the .ini file.

EDIT: coded in PB3.93
I did not use 4.2 because I had already converted puresokoban from its older version to 3.93 and it was "safer" to stick with 3.93 while ripping code ideas. I am not sure what 3D changes were done for 4.2. I do use 4.2 for my other projects though.

The file is correct. What do you use to decrunch it?

Anyway, the code doesn't work for PB 4 and next.

It's not.
C:\Downloads\PureFPS.zip: The archive is corrupt
C:\Downloads\PureFPS.zip: CRC failed in PureFPS\Textures\Image1r.PNG. The file is corrupt
C:\Downloads\PureFPS.zip: The archive is corrupt
I really doubt my WinRAR is broken. Image

also the XP-internal ZIP cannot handle it.

@Psychophanta

what do you use?

I guess, by accident the same, older WinRAR version, waffle used to pack it...

Doesn't open here with Winzip v10.0 either, I get this error message:

Code: Select all

---------------------------
WinZip
---------------------------
error [E:\PureFPS.zip]: start of central directory not found; Zip file corrupt.
Possible cause: file transfer error.
---------------------------
OK Help
---------------------------
And WinRAR v3.70 reports this:

Code: Select all

! E:\PureFPS.zip: Unexpected end of archive

I get 'unexpected end of archive' in winrar 3.7. How 'bout this: every time I download, I get a file that's 2,244,097 bytes. Is this the true size of the archive?

I have no reasons to lie here!
Promised it is opened correctly and decrunched correctly using IZarc 3.81 :o
No need to repair or something like that!

There is an error in the filespec... 2.13mb

I am using FreeZip and AUTO COMPLETE. The error is in the file Image1r.(jpg) (usure of which file extension is said) I forced overwrite and slammed avast up to paranoid levels.

Scanning files reveals nothing.

Looks interesting... will drop a note if it runs! :D

Runs a little slow... models look like BBasic models, was this done with BBeD.dll ? I don't see that so it cannot be!

Very old school though... The original Wolfenstien3D style!

A Aimpoint would have been nice (simple SPRITE drawn last) and the swinging arms of the robot are a little distracting... I would assume the camera would not be in the belly of the beast!

Glad at least someone got it to work. That's alot of work.
I placed the camera there as thats the "center" of the walls.
It was hard to "guess" the size of the robot. The scalefactor is
0.06? of original size. I guess I should have placed the camera at 80%
height instead of 50% .... Yes, an aiming device would have been nice,
but I really am bad about FPS and can't aim anyway :) Maybe that's why I stick to puzzle games and solitair, with an occational Vshooter thrown in.

On the .zip/.rar problem. I tried downloading and testing here in Mabinay, Philipines .... Always corrupted .... but not always the same way ....
Tried uploading about 10 times (5 minutes each) and retest the download, same problem. I'll try Kabankalan next week. They seem to have a more reliable system. If that fails, then Dumagette (always works) but thats 4 hours away. I will be there next month for my visa renewal.
