Marbles anyone?

A couple of weeks back my 13 y/o neice has turned up from school armed with her latest woodwork project in the form of a little block of wood with holes drill all over it to hold marbles for a little game called Solitare marbles. After losing an hour or so on this silly little thing & seeing as it was the same week as I had resigned from my job & I am now unemployed, I figured I may as well have a go at making this little thing in PB, especially seeing as I have never really written anything in the way of a game before. So, here is my 1st effort @ writing a game. Hope you enjoy.

three left - like most times..
nice little Game
really good solution with the drag&drop, and the marking point in between..
I would like if the game would be a little more generous regarding the drop-position.
is the background the Original Board your neice made?
the other grafix could be a little bit pushed, perhaps slightly different marbles,
perhaps some animated shiny-effekt, nicer Font, etc...

Thanks Kaeru, glad you like it.
My original idea to make this game was as a bit of a joke to torment my little neice....
I would like if the game would be a little more generous regarding the drop-position
Easy fixed, I will do this in the next day or so.
is the background the Original Board your neice made?
No it's not, it is my attempt to try and make the board look a little more what I would call " oldskoolish", lol
I am intending to use my neices original board as a background, but she will be the only person with a copy of that 1.
the other grafix could be a little bit pushed, perhaps slightly different marbles,
perhaps some animated shiny-effekt, nicer Font, etc...
Too true. The current fonts are simply PB defaults, so I will do something about this. As for the marbles, this image is just the best I could find & hack up with M$ Paint without too much trouble. ( I definately would never make a living as a graphic artist!! ) I might see if I can do something about that also.

Small update.
1. Increased drop region tolerances ( please let me know if you manage to get any illegal moves to work )
2. Fancied up the fonts a little
3. Added English "A" which is "N" on french keyboard to quit list

That link is a nice little game also.
1 difference though, with mine, you can jump in a cross formation also which your link game does not allow.

Perhaps he means diagonally?

Oops, Sorry, yes Derek is correct I mean in a "X" pattern as well as in a "+" pattern.

OH - I see...
didn't recon it before, because to the old rules I know this is illegal...
I think we should look up the rules somewhere..
I know this game for 30 years know, never heard it was legal to jump diagonally.

I never even tried to jump diagonal because, like Kaeru, I thought it wasn't allowed. Will have to try your game again and see if I can beat it now.

Interestingly, like Kaeru I have known this type of game for more than 30 years & I was taught that diagonal was an allowable move. Maybe I have had it wrong all these years....
Mind you, getting the diagonal moves to work was probably the most difficult part of this project, until I found a little snippet here in the forums to return angles from Cpl. Bator which made my life much easier.
fwiw this project is also done 100% with native PB. No API used whatsoever.
When I am completely happy with the way it runs I will also probably drop the source here somewhere for you too.
