I'm so excited, I have to share. Just got myself an M3 Simply for my Nintendo DS. It's already a very cool piece of kit, but now I can play ports of old classics like Doom, Lemmings, Flashback and SCUMM games. w00t!

Now, if there was a PureBasic cross compiler for NDS that would be even better ;)

I didn't know you could play DOOM in a BMW???

Seriously, this one has passed over my head... what is an M3 if it isn't a BMW?

Aaaaarg, i bought the wrong car. My BMW525 isn't able to run DOOM.
I think i shoud try to run PB on it. Hey Fred is PB 4.10 B3 BMW compatible or do i have to buy another car?

It's a cartridge for the Nintendo DS that allows you to plug in micro-SD flash cards and run programs from them.

If you want to play Doom *in* your BMW you can do it with a Nintendo DS and one of these things. But I doubt you could run it *on* your BMW (although there's probably a Pimp My Ride that has that ;)

I guess technically the GPS would be capable of it, for example the TomTom GPS units run on Linux.

SCUMM is great on the DS, very nicely implemented and the games run perfectly. Lemmings though, it's still got a lot of bugs in it, and no official levels as far as I know, it's worth checking out but won't be much fun until it's finished.

My favorite homebrew is SpeccyDS, a really great emulator for the ZX Spectrum, it's adorable, little speccy keybord on the touch screen, and the games run at the right speed and resolution. It's the best emulator for the DS IMO even if not all games work.

You can get a soundtracker too, Noizetracker I think it's called, but it supports the main formats, sounds good, and turns the DS into a nice little music sequencer.

Don't know why you went for an M3 and not an R4 though, just got an R4 for my sons DS and it's damn good - a lot less fidly than my SupercardSD.

I played Lemmings last night, and of the few levels I played (3 or 4) they seemed to be the ones from the original games.

Cheers, I'll check that out. Used to have a Speccy and have always had an emulator for it on my computers.

When I was reading reviews about the hardware most of them said that the M3 and R4 were identical and when I went looking for them the M3 was the cheaper option. I've just had a look around again and it seems like the R4 was the original and the M3 is a rebranding or clone. And I've found them for the same price now. So I probably would have been better off with the R4 but it's too late now :)
