Most of the times i prefer classical music, but i can't listen to it and work at the same time, so i just shutdown everything that makes sound while i am on the core of something i am developing.
The other kind of music that i like is metal, which i do listen most of the time i am sitting on a computer when what i am doing doesnt require much brain activity

normally I don't play music while programming.

if any, then e.g. the old LPs by Pink Floyd with Roger Waters.
sometimes Cat Stevens, sometimes Massive Attack...

If coding in the day I'll listen to the radio. During the evening the mp3 player comes out and I just disappear within. I can churn out hundreds of lines of code in one sitting whilst immersed in a good album or three.

Course, the code hardly ever works when I code like this! :)

First it was tricky to do both, but now I always listen to metal music while programming
(yeah, I'm like headbanging and typing at the same time)

Actually I always listen to music while programming. Otherwise it's far too boring. It's mostly radiostreams with all kinds of styles. I like house, funk, techno, lounge and VGM the most.

And the danes are everywhere!

My playlist varies a bit. It is a mixture of some old classics by queen, Charles Trenet (and a lot of even older classics by people like BJ Thomas), AND the newest in club/dance/trance music. And scooter, of course (stadium techno i suppose. They invented the style AFAIK) :)

I love the old classics though. And also some more classics in the electronic genre (and italo dance, i love italo. Gigi D'agostino and perhaps some Mauro Picotto. Old stuff some people say - better than the crap they listen to i say)

As said it varies quite a lot. BUT NEVER EVER Will i get things like "rihanna" and "Nelly Furtado"
just the names make me SICK

I listen to allot of "weird" music when I code. Everything from Weird Al to Lee Greenwood, Metallica, Ingenting and so on. Yeah I know, my music taste IS strange. No denying that hehehe

I usually always have the radio on to a classic rock station but at low "background" volume.

The only time I like complete quiet is when I'm sleeping...

nope... I don't hear music... sometimes I hear voices in my head, but they are singing Beatles tunes in Lithuanian and I don't speak Lithuanian so I ignore them.

Actually I listen to the FREE sattelite radio on AIMpro... Channel Flight26... though when I am in problem solving mode I don't really hear it!
