Hello!

My friend, a muslim guy, has a crush on a korean girl and they both seem to love each other, but my friend wants to avoid any sins and wants to be sure if he and the girl could marry. As a good friend I promised him to help finding the truth.

My friend said that the girl would be ready to change her religion to Islam... However, I see a problem here; I have looked on many websites for information, but half of the websites which I looked up said there's absolutely NO way for a muslim to marry a buddhist, but on the other hand half of the websites which I looked up say that it is possible if the girl converts to Islam..

Could an expert lend me a hand? Thanks!

If they have a secular marrage then it doesn't matter.

:roll: This is exactly why i wish that the self-perpetuating mind virus of religion would disappear forever. I have never heard so much tripe. If he loves her and she loves him then nothing should stand in the way, especially not the mutterings of a crazed paedophile that died in the dark ages!

Why don't they both become atheist and then they can live their lives in true peace not hating anyone and not experiencing the massive guilt that their so called loving familiy has placed upon them. :roll:

Nothing would stand in the way if my friend wouldn't have so f**ked up parents that insist to forbid marriage with buddhists... My friend is already 21 so what kind of right does his parents have to forbid him what he wants to do? The problem is that after the mother of my friend knew about the relationship between my friend and the korean girl, she warned him that she would publicly blame him if the relationship goes any further. Is this a f**king concentration camp? Where's the freedom? Richard Stallman would be needed here

I really hope so too! All this crap about different religions is really unnecessary and brings more harm to the world.

I told my friend about this thread and he said that he was ashamed to even start the relationship... I told him the following: "Are you sane? You have been dating her for more than 2 months already and she really loves you! Are you a man? A man doesn't give up so easily unless you are a chicken. Look, I know your parents are very strict, but you are like 21 and have the freedom to do what you want, so why the heck don't you just marry the girl whom you love so much? You will break her heart if she knows that you have religion as a bigger priority than her. Think about it!"

He logged out of Jabber... don't know what he now thinks but it would be less problematic if the conflict between the religions wouldn't be there.

Nope, it's Religion for sure. Christianity does not allow me to get married!

I don't know much of christianity, so could you please tell us why christianity doesn't allow you to get married?

You could get married in Canada maw, and there are several protestant churches that would perform it.

Yeah, I know that. I will probably be able to get married here in Sweden to in about a year. But that doesn't change the fact that christianity as a religion doesn't approve of it. Or so most of it's clergy keeps preaching. Good thing there aren't any bigger problems in the world like hunger, poverty and war to distract them.. :roll:

Gay people are still people, right? maw isn't any different of us, even if he has a different sexuality, it doesn't mean he is different in person compared to hetero-sexuals. Atleast that's what our gay teacher said in maths lesson; everybody laughed except me and some others, what's so funny in gay?

Here in Germany your could get married in a registry office but not recieve the Lutheran Church's blessing for your marriage - they don't want the model of a partnership between husband and wife to get lost.
But: Lutheran Church will no discriminate against you and - which is even more important - will bless you and your partner as human beings; not your partnership.

This should be the same with most protestant churches - also in Sweden.

He should do the Korean girl a favour and break off the relationship!

I'm probably narrow minded and short sighted but I have a little trouble undersanding some people's motivations and cultures.

All religion is man made. Spirtuality and God have nothing to do with religion nor vice-versa.

That said and to the best of my knowledge to convert to islam is merely a matter of saying "i do". You just agree to submit to Allah. Publicly, with an Imam or someone around.

However once you have submitted you are not allowed to change your mind and unsubmit. If you do, you die.

Your friend, being of Islam, should know this sort of stuff btw .....?

Anyone who considers the "unsubmit and die" bit to be barbaric should read up on Christian and Judaic law and history. They are all birds of the same feather and of the same El/Al and Moon/Sea/War god ilk.

It is only in secular states that we are spared the "mercy" of the Abramic religions which are pretty blood-thirsty and unforgiving dictatorships.

You friend should convert to Bhuddism. But then, of course, he risks being done away with by a fundamentalist.
