Hmm.... Valve gets greedy... :-(

Looks like Valve (Half-Life, Half-Life 2, etc.) has decided to be greedy.

Up until recently Half-Life 2 Episode 2 was going to be available separately, but now that has been canceled.

Instead, in order to get Episode 2 you'll have to buy it with Half-Life 2 and Episode 1 even if you already have those games... :(

Their excuse is that you can then give away the unregistered games you already have....

Games are over-priced as it is IMHO, now they want us to buy the same game several times? Ridiculous!

Guess I won't be buying or playing Episode 2... :(

Thats only the boxed version IIRC. you can still pay for and download just EP2.

I have seen that this relates to the retail package, but from my experience, I've also found that offerings on Steam pretty much mirror retail offerings, and so far I haven't found anything that says ep2 will be offered separately on Steam.

I did see a quote from Valve that said the orange box will contain three steam activation codes, one for hl2, one for ep1, and one for ep2, so it may well be offered separately on Steam.

I hope it is, I've enjoyed hl2 and ep1 and would like to play ep2 and ep3 when they are released later this year.

Still it seems a bit greedy / rotten to force retail buyers to buy games they already have just to get ep2. Then again, people that have hl2 and / or ep1 already have Steam accounts and can get it separately there.

Time will tell...
