Hi GeoTrail,
Now when you have started using Ubuntu you
MUST install Beryl...
You can find a VERY good guide here,
http://news.softpedia.com/news/Ubuntu-E ... 4785.shtml
A nice Ubuntu / Beryl video here,

More info about Beryl here,

Cool!

Yes, Beryl is really, really cool and I DO miss some Beryl features when I use Vista Ultimate...

Having not used Vista or Beryl I can't really comment but if I had to choose either, judging by the videos, then I would definately go for Beryl.
The animated workspace in that Matrix video does it for me. Why can't windows have an animated screen!

Wow, that does look cool.
Nothing really huge with Vista I think, transparent things here and there and a 3D task scroller, that have never impressed me, but Beryl looks cool

Beryl doesn't work well with ATI Cards though,

One of the very best resources I have found for Ubuntu:
http://www.getautomatix.com/
When setting up a new box, it's absolutely invaluable.
