Hello Folks.

Well I have finally defected from Blitz Basic to Pure Basic at last! It has been a while coming but I was just fed up with the lack of development that was being put into the Blitz products. Also, Mr Sibley seems to be turning his attentions to some sort of 'Shoot Em Up Contruction Kit' and moving away from the traditional way of developing software.

I have now turned to PureBASIC as I was simply blown away with its capablilities compared to Blitz Plus & Blitz Max. I downloaded the PureBASIC demo a few weeks ago and I am very impressed with what it can do. My particular area of interest is application development rather than games and I have been mucking around with the immense level of gadget support that PureBASIC offers.

I have noticed some familiar names on these forums from the blitz forums so hello again to you. To everyone else, I will contribute when I can and where I can and I am sure that you will make me feel very welcome.

Don't count on it, now sod off! Pah, humbug!

hehe. Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Welcome prof!

Purebasic, as you'll discover and have already hinted at, is great for application development (amongst other things) with immense support and help from these forums and the guys behind the language.

You'll enjoy coding with Purebasic. :)

Hi,

In two weeks I'll be about 150 miles away as I'm moving to Cambridge! :)

But yes, a small world sometimes. I've only ever been to Grimsby once, to watch the football. I just remember that it rained all the time!

Welcome! You will not regret your decision.

I have been a PB owner for several years. In my experience, Fred is the ONLY developer of an indie language (I have bought them all) who keeps his promises to his users.

We also have the most helpful and knowledgeable community around. And unlike the Blitz community nobody here will put down your work or make fun of your programs or code when you post it.

Seriously, Welcome to the community :D

Well they will but most of them don't mean it  and as has been said, they are very helpful.

I also used to use Blitz but haven't done so now for a couple of years, PB is far better.

And finally, welcome to the forums. :)

Welcome :)

I purchased PureBasic one day after I purchased iBasic, never regretted it, only thing I regretted was buying iBasic in the first place

But let me warn you, once you're here, they won't let you leave ;)

Welcome to PureBasic!

Sounds like you've already discovered how great a language it is.

Sounds like he wants to create something like The Game Creator's FPS Creator...

Cool,

Any more info about this book? What's the back cover and contents list? Does it cover v4? (Is there much difference between v3 and v4? I didn't use v3 much)

I saw it in amazon.com and theres no stock or pic or anything and I thought it was gone (is it the same book?)

I am interested in it
