Has anyone (here on PB) played with changing the wondiws icons? Aside from Stardock and manually changing them???
I suppose what I want to ask is: Where is that info about the icon to use located? I am thinking it is in the registry which would be a large pain in the rear...

I think most of the icons are stored in shell32.dll but I might be mistaken cause I don't use Windows that often..

Most if not all the Explorer icons are in
shell32.dll.
Which icon(s) are you looking to change?

Hi,
changing the icons for files is not so a big problem, I started reading the assigned registry entries (see forum
http://www.purebasic.fr/english/viewtop ... highlight=)
The registry locations for the internal icons (special folders, trash, network etc.) cpuld be found in the internet (e.g.
http://www.virtualplastic.net/html/icn_reg.html)

I used to own StarDock. I was just wondering how they did it and how simple it would be to do myself... You know, something like a FREE ICON SWITCH tool... (or maybe for really CHEAP)
