"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Insist that OFCOM and the
ASA stop Broadband Providers advertising 'unlimited' services that are in fact
limited in the small print or by un-defined fair use policies."
So the UK doesn't have laws forbidding false advertising?

Yeah - it's like the web site hosting services that offer 'unlimited' bandwidth - there's always some sort of clause that says, in effect, it's unlimited until we decide you've used too much, then you've violated our 'terms of service' regarding server load or user impact or whatever
Good luck with the petition.

True, but I think it's just to limit some people who just leave their connection on all the time, even when they are away on holiday or something.
You have to remember that the internet is dished out with contention ratio's and if someone is hogging the net then you get a slower service.
I get my service from a cable company who says that the download is unlimited and I regularly get through 30 gig's a month and have never had a problem.
Still, I can see your point and will sign the petition.

I once found such a webhost.. offering "unlimited" space and "unlimited bandwidth".. I can't confirm if it was unlimited space, because the filesize limit was 100Kb or so.. and just after 20 visits to my site, they dropped my account and filled the website with loads of advertisements.. They didn't even send me an e-mail about this! Man what a shitty host!
