Then how would people like in the link below get to be registered when things have gone wrong and they have tried emailing?

A great many potential buyers of the product post questions as to its capabilities, strengths/weaknesses, etc. and it would be harmful to sales imho if they couldn't do that.

Fair issues... I hadn't thought of that...

Especially since that is what I did (registration wise) Still it should be explored.
(I was too busy constructing a silly rant for anothe post)

TO BE HONEST THOUGH, MOST VIABLE QUESTIONS HAVE PROBABLY ALREADY BEEN ASKED IN THIS RESPECT. SIMPLY READING THROUGH THE FORUMS MIGHT NOW BE ENOUGH FOR MOST PEOPLE TO GET AN IDEA OF PUREBASIC'S CAPABILITIES ETC.
PLACE ALL SUCH QUESTIONS IN A SECTION OF ITS OWN WITHIN THESE FORUMS FOR PROSPECTIVE BUYERS TO PERUSE, KIND OF LIKE AN EXTENDED FAQ.
ALTERNATIVELY, ONE KIND HEARTED MEMBER OF THIS COMMUNITY COULD VOLUNTEER TO RECEIVE ALL SUCH QUESTIONS THROUGH PRIVATE MESSAGE AND RESPOND IN PERSON.

I NOMINATE SPARKIE BECAUSE OF HIS VAST KNOWLEDGE - AND HIS COOL AVATAR!

SPARKIE WOULD THEN NOMINATE FANGBEAST, WHO WOULD NOMINATE NETMAESTRO WHO WOULD NOMINATE FLYPE WHO WOULD NOMINATE TROND WHO WOULD NOMINATE DEREK WHO WOULD ...... WHO WOULD NOMINATE SROD.... DAMN IT!
Seriously, spam doesn't seem to be overly rampant in these forums and the mods are on top of the game here, deleting such posts pretty quickly. Can't see as it's a major problem at the moment.

This is an old topic that's been beaten to death a number of times and the decision by the owners has always been to keep the forum open to all and I agree with that decision.
You want the PureBasic community to grow but if you close the forums so that evaluators can't ask questions, how can you expect them to buy? A perfect example is years ago when I was looking at a variety of languages to migrate from Visual Basic to, I ran across one language that looked promissing until I discovered that I could not post messages with questions on their forums until I purchased a license. After I discovered that, I immediately uninstalled the language and deleted the downloaded files and moved on.
We had a similar problem on the forums I administer, and considered several options. I finally chose to set up a "New Members" group that users got assigned to as soon as they validated their e-mail address. Users in the "New Members" group could post messages, but those messages were hidden until a moderator or administrator approved them. After five approved posts, users are automatically promoted to the "Member" group whos messages don't need approval before they become visible.
This does mean a little more work for me but it does prevent spam messages from being visible and I can ban any member that posts such messages so they can't do it again, at the very least, they'll have to create a new account to post again. It works.

I don't know where the problem is.
in the german forums we just updated the billboard-software a week ago.
before that, I hunted down over A HUNDRED Bots per month.
so, meanwhile a few bot's are good enough to break through the Captha of this forum.
change it a bit, make the picture more complex,
or ask a question within the captcha wich the user should answer
(a bot would enter the question)
there are a lot of possibilities to improve security.
and there will be always some few bots breaking through,
and some of them may post viagra-commercials...
that's the 21st century, don't bother.

Yeah, I'm bored. I've got a really bad cold so I'm sat here feeling sorry for myself and taking cheap shots at people.

Ay Yah!
Imho, only people with working capslock keys should be allowed to post ...
{snif}

I will have you know I had my pinkie on the [SHIFT] key when I typed the title!
Sorry!
Do many bots get through that "Type the WORD ( or type the NUMBER ) in the image box?" defense...
