VISTA bytes!

I have just spent 12 hours dealing with multiple problems VISTA is having on our network.

My solution... KILL Vista...

My boss was not amused but in the end we had to reinstall SE2003 on that box and backup from 2 weeks ago.

At least I won't be reintering data. I made accounting KEEP all their data since install as a hardcopy.

I am severly hoping VISTA goes the way of WinME! Even though MS threatens to allow some games ONLY for VISTA... Sounds like they know this is not going to be easy to convince people to switch either.

I will upgrade, probably around about service pack 3 when a few thousand bugs have been ironed out!

They always make things bigger and slower, I'm not going to change to Vista before I get a better computer!

The only way I'll ever get vista is when I buy a new computer and it comes with it. Then I will try it and if I don't like it I will put xp on it.

I will go for Ubuntu Feisty Fawn and Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, maybe also some other Operating Systems for special purpose such as Haiku or others in my VMs there are enough exciting things out there, maybe I will need to Install vista some time in a VM on my Mac or something like that which is horrible sicne only the Ultimate versions are allowed to run in VMs...

I am already using Vista and have been using it for quite some time. There were some teething problems in the beginning but it runs very smoothly now. XP is still installed on one of my hard discs but it'll soon be just a part of history. Well... basically, the same situation like when we were moving from Win9x to Win2000 and/or WinXP.

I voted "maybe for games" because yes, Micro$oft is being anti-competitive
by making its new games require it. A good example is Flight Simulator X.
Not only does this game REQUIRE Vista, is also requires ACTIVATION too!
I really hate Micro$oft even more now because of this.

So why did I choose maybe? For two reasons: one is the above (it really is
the best flight sim out there, nothing else compares), and the other reason
is because I want to sell my software (eventually) and if my web site has
screenshots of XP skins then people will assume the software is old and
pre-Vista. Know what I mean? Appearances are everything and if you go
to a web site and see screenshots with Windows 95 skins then you start
to wonder if the software is "current" or secure by today's standards.
I feel it's only a matter of time before customers think that of XP skins.

So yeah, I feel like I have no choice but to upgrade. Damn them.

I also voted yes, but I will wait until at least service pack 1 has been released AND I am ready to replace my current hardware.
