The true fact about video game consoles..

Hi!

The true fact about video gaming consoles is that they are useless. It's somehow pitiful to see that people make a "way of life" just of gaming on a console... Get a PC and an internet connection and you are already downloading more games than you ever thought to buy for your console ;)

Sony's new PS3 costs more than a good PC (a PC with that you still can play many games); Nintendo's Wii looks like fun, but is dangerous (did I tell you that my friend hit his sister while playing Wii Tennis with the Wiimote?).. XBOX 360... wait! I hate Microsoft! =P

I was (note, WAS) a video gamer and a big fanatic of Nintendo, but now I have my GameCube sitting in the living room and I don't do anything with it... And if I count the price of my GameCube including all games that I bought and some other stuff as well, the price would go near 900$.. With 900$ I could buy a new laptop with built-in webcam and a good Graphic Card.

EDIT: I should have said that I could list countless Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo games that are so good in gameplay that even the next-generation graphics can't beat them. Just get a PC and download emulators and emulate ROMs.. Even if it's illegal, nobody has to know, right? ;]

Just my 5 eurocents ;]

Videogames are more fun than PC games. Why? Everybody has the same controller possibilities and not a keyboard which doesn't fit to every game. Anyway: Split screen on PC is out! You need at least 2 PCs to play a game with your friends at your home. And if you want to play good games you even need expencive computers, 3 Terra-Hz, 2mrd. GB HD, 1m. RAM for at least 1500 Euros, and so on... After about 1 year you have to buy a new one or you'll die.

Sorry but for me a good game need to be difficult to control. I mean, a
joystick with 18 buttons and a keyboard with 102 key are needed to
control the game. Otherwise, I'm bored to play in less than 5 minutes.

Sorry for console lovers but : I HATE CONSOLE !! Wii, XBOX, PS3, etc.

If I play PC games, I never want to play them more than 5 minutes. And loading is sooooooooo ssssslllloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowwww on PC(Don't have the money to throw it out! I can't pay 1000€ per year for a new computer).

Exactly, you only need to spend a few hundred pounds/euros and you're playing with a console, with a PC you spend hundreds every year just to keep it up to date!

every platform has its own advantages

pc: great for rts games, you need a mouse and those buttons, also mmorpg games such as guild wars are great on a pc

multiplayer on line stuff tends to be somewhat nicer on the pc, though the xbox showed you can do it on a console as well

console: more simple stuff, control wise, though i admit the control setup of the wii may work for rts'es as well, i dunno as i never tried one thus far :-)

this doesn't mean to say that console games are simpler, just that they have somewhat more limited controls, which can still be put perfectly to use

indeed there are some reasons to prefer a console over a pc: it's easier to setup, to use, no config isses etc.

then again, we're living in a great time: consoles are getting cheaper, and older games still look fantastic on current or almost current pc gear, if you don't want the best of the best you can get VERY decent games for 5 bucks or so... gotta' love that!

come to think of it, i think i deserve both :-)
