I don't understand...

the "I'm back", "I'm gone", "I'm back", "I'm gone" postings in this forum... :?:  :?:

What "I'm gone"? Do people suddenly take a decision to "quit PureBasic", as with smoking?!? I don't understand it... Ok, sometimes I visit this forum frequently and sometimes not so frequently - but to say "I'm quiting to use" a computer language its just stupid. It's like saying "I can speak French, but I won't use it any more".

I use all kind of Computer Languages depending on what I am doing and I promise, I will never going to write a post saying I'm "quiting a language or a Forum"...

If I ever have a really bad depression episode, I just quit, take all my marbles and then watch some of the lowlives attack me for it.

Some just say they want to quit because of respect for others, some just say it because they want attention. It's hard to tell if it's genuine or a trick and sometimes asking sparks another war. I guess it's just something you have to ignore or ask the person directly to satisfy an 'itch' to know.

My personal feeling is that most of the ones who announce it are rather young but that's just an opinion and could be totally wrong.

I don't know which one you mean but just out of interest, I looked at the list of newly registered users yet to make a post ad some of them bring up an "oh oh" flag if you read their names and interests.

The mods have their work cut out for them.

I understand if someone is telling the Forum that "I'm going to be off the Forum for some time now" (that's just polite), but I don't understand posts like "I'm quiting PureBasic"...

Hmmmm - I think I'm going to quit Lisp today, or maybe Ada...

Well, I suppose it is like Fangbeast wrote - they are young, at least a couple of decades younger than me! 8)
