when using my laptop (a dell d810) my external keyboard is a different language than my internal keyboard (us vs. uk) so before using special symbols i have to change the keyboard / language settings

which is not that difficult, but either i have to do it for every application, or i have to reboot the machine

is there a command line tool that will change the keyboard? (windows xp)

euh, command line trond? :-) i don't want 4 clicks and a reboot, i want one click on a batch that sets the language for all apps on my machine, those that i started and have yet to start

And why wont it do that?
When i used quickbasic long time ago i had to set my kb to english; i just used the language toolbar that windows has and changed it. no reboots; worked for all app's so far i know..

You don't have to reboot. Also you only have to it once. Doing it once and forever would have taken less time than writing your post.
