IE7? Did anyone test the new release?

Only to the extent that it appears to work ok in Vista.

What kind of 'testing' do you mean?

I totally agree with you... It isn't even copied correctly after firefox. I tried it and used it for a week and after this i came back to good old firefox. Personally i hate the button and menu arrangement and the GUI is much slower than firefox's one. Waste of HDD space .

I looked at RC2, when I discovered that several UI peices weren't where I prefer them and that you couldn't move some of them, I removed it and went back to IE6.

I prefer the UI peices in this order (top to bottom):

1. Menus
2. Buttons
3. Address
4. Links

And I prefer the tabs to be at the bottom (which I think is configurable in IE7 but don't fully remember if it is)

I've also seen lots of reports of JavaScript that works fine in IE6 doesn't work at all in IE7.

I have no plans to even look at the released version unlessed forced to.

Didnt test the new IE myself.

But I read an article about it in a rather good german computer mag
(called iX).

They say that the new version is really disappointing and that a lot of
browser bugs arent corrected so far. In comparision with the open source
competitors like firefox - the IE7 seems to be beyond their quality.

This article really makes me wonder how such a big company like
microsoft doesnt seem to be able to provide a better and closer to the
w3c standards (conform) browser. :roll:

But again - I didnt test it myself .. this is just what the article says ...

Thus, I fail to see any reason for me to change from Firefox.

I love 7. Nothing against firefox, I have that on my U3 stick.

IE 7 hangs on m at times and loads slow at other times. Sometimes when I click on the X to close a tap it does not happen or it takes a several seconds.

IE 7 needs some work in my opinion.

I'm using IE 7 at the moment. It's alright, it's not brilliant, but it's alright.

I have Firefox 1.5.0.7 and IE 7 on my computer. IE here is much faster. And it seems that most people have no idea how easy it is to customize IE
Anyways, I do you Firefox as my normal browser. And have no plans or going back to IE permanently.

The reason I am going with IE7 is because I was having problems with some Websites not working Firefox, even with plugins that "act like IE is viewing the page". Plus, my clients are going to be using such and I need to know what's going on with any technology my clients have, are, will use. I also know and have used "about:config" for Firefox.

I wish Firefox had a foolproof way of viewing any IE page, without errors, problems.

You need the IETab extension, which does exactly what you want:

I installed 7 and used it for a couple of days, I didn't really see anything wrong with it that I could put my finger on. It did seem less reliable at bringing pages up quickly than 6 but that could just be an impression. All in all I didn't feel comfortable with it so out it went for now. I'll wait for the first service pack and try it again in a few months.

I just checked, the version I have installed is this very plugin and it did not work on my last two (2) attempts when ordering parts.
