My condolences

Don't like Gateway?

Pretty cool, but I don't like those media center PCs.

I am more into Water Cooling, CoolerMaster Cavalier 3 CAV-T03 Black, Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Allendale

Ugh, a CowChip Computer. Better than a Dell, but that's not saying much.

If it were me though, once I got that system, I would invest in a better graphics card, better hard drive, better sound card and a better power supply.

My setup currently has:

Graphics Card: Asus Extreme ATI Radeon X1300 Pro
Hard Drive: 250Gb Western Digital Caviar RE16
Sound Card: Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro
Power Supply: Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-450 450W

Dual core is a good choose. I have the same CPU, and I'm very satisfied.
The GPU is a bit underpowered, but if you are not interested in gaming, it's fast enough.

Not bad, but your gonna need a proper gfx card.

Really expensive computer, for the same price, i can get a far powerfull computer, ok, it isn't written Gateway in the front of the desktop but who care and no, i still like Gateway, i got one (an old AMD 750mhz running XP very fast).

I don't like showing who get the bigger one (don't know if it could be well interpreted by the uk language, think of mmhh...) but here is mine :

GPU : 7900 GT@620/1.3 ghz ( > 7900 GTX)
HD : 1x320 gb WD + 2x160 gb
SPU : X-Fi Elite Pro
PSU : Enermax 535w ATX2.x with 90 % of output (~ peak@685w)
Screen : 22" CRT IIyama running since 6 years, ~12h a day

Thanks, so far I'm pretty happy, but it's only been a day. I tried a reasonably complex 3D game (far cry) and it ran smoothly, although it auto-selected low-quality settings. That's more than enough for me as I'm not much of a gamer at all. 2D stuff is all I'll ever want and if it'll run Far Cry at all it's all I'll ever need. Bear in mind that there's no video card in it at all, just the onboard video. But there's PCI Express slots to take a good card if I ever want one. Where I really see a vast improvement is in video recoding. I went from processing 400-450 frames/sec on the advanced analysis with my old machine to 950-1100! Better than double. I had to spend half an hour UNinstalling a lot of frigging trial software that came preloaded on it, stuff I have no use for. I could have done without that. Anyway, if I still feel the same way a month from now about it, I'll be quite satisfied with my purchase. I've wanted a dual-core processor for some time now and I deliberately narrowed my search to AMD. Utilizing the new BTX configuration, the cooling and case design on this thing is worlds better than my previous ATX box. There's no fan directly over the processor heatsink, which is monstrous, but it has deep aluminum fins that are configured horizontally to feed into a plastic cowling leading to a large, quiet and fairly slow-moving fan in the back. So draws air from the front of the case across those fins and straight out the back. It's very quiet with much lower operating temperatures than my old Athlon 64 in the ATX case, which just blew air directly on the heatsink and then it went bouncing all around inside, heating everything else up.

2D stuff is all I'll ever want

You should be fine then Memory wise and processor wise, that is a VERY good deal.

The only thing that really stood out at me was that it was being sold as a "media pc", yet has such a small amount of cache on the hard drive. Usually for a media PC you want a hard drive with a lot more cache.

The good thing about buying a system like that is you can upgrade it, if your needs change in the future.
