Need a new freehoster

I took me ages to find a good freehoster but it seems Fortuna doesn't like me much! It has been hacked last week, went down. They recovered from the attack with many accounts deleted and databases being offline. Then they got hacked again (just a few hours ago to precise) and now they friggin gave up! The service is now closed forever!
Well, bad luck! Now I need a new freehoster but I'm not talking about pathetic nonsense like Lycos/Tripod or Yahoo Geocities. I'm look for a serious freehoster that can offer the same content (if not better) like my old one:
- 100 MB webspace or higher
- PHP 5.1.5
- mySQL
- CGI Bin
- Perl
- Advertising free (no banners, Popup, etc.)
- Unlimited monthly transfer rate
- FTP access (no crappy HTML site uploaders)
- Direct download, inlcuding ALL file types
- Unlimited filesize (or at least no utopic limits like 500KB)
Any tips ?

Good point but that thread is not very satisfying. Just one reply that is actually providing a couple of links. The rest is just worshiping commercial hosting wich I'm simply not looking for.
Anyway, I checked those two sites and
www.phpnet.us looks like a scam or at least unreliable (too little info provided).
As for
www.sitesled.com, that is a BIG no:
SiteSled FAQ wrote:14. Do you support CGI, PHP or MySQL?
No. We currently don't support CGI, PHP, or MySQL.
Any other tips here?

There's a reason for that.

Lol. Hardly worshipful.
Brinkster.com used to offer free hosting with scripting, databases, etc. I'm not sure if they still do or if they support php (they did asp and .net) but you might want to suss it out.

- Unlimited monthly transfer rate
- Direct download, inlcuding ALL file types
These are even hardly possible in cheap hosters...
And by saying "Unlimited monthly transfer rate",
Some users want to support you with ther space may think again.

They still do but the limitations are ridiculous compared to what I'm looking for respectively to what my old freehoster offered.

Just hardly, not impossible!

I admit unlimited bandwidth is a very rare feature but I would also be satisfied with 2GB or higher. And if the offer is really worth it I would also consider hosting the files elsewhere.

Who was your old freehoster?
Edit: Forget the Q, I just re-read your first post.

Well, did you read mine? I saw the link to
www.free-webhosts.com but it's rather pointless to ask for freehosters on this forum just to be redirected to ask on another.
I also tried the powersearch but nothing is matching my requirements.

I've no idea why anybody would put up with the crap of free hosting companies when you can get a professional solution like One.com for as little as £10 per year!

a professional solution like One.com
Probably because One.com is a gimmick host and just as worthless as the freebie hosts.
Since this is a programming forum, lets assume Fluid Byte wants to make a site to host games or apps he makes with PB.
From the One.Com TOS:
Subscribers are not permitted to store large amounts of data on the server for free download or reading without prior
agreement with One.com. The purpose is not to function as an external hard drive for the storage of data in formats such
as zip, mp3, jpg, etc.
That pretty much leaves out using the site to host any games or applications you make with PureBasic.
Traffic is basically unlimited. However, traffic must be normal in nature and not disrupt that of other customers.
If you make a game with PB and post it on your site and it gets listed at one or two shareware review sites, you are looking at 10-20GB of traffic a day in downloads. I am sure your site would be yanked from their servers very quickly.
This is similar to the magic "10% clause" that other gimmick hosts use. They promise outrageous amounts of monthly bandwidth for low prices, but then hide behind the "10% clause". They usually only have a handfull of servers and "stack them" by putting thousands of clients on each server. In the above scenario, with a game or app posted on a review site, even if you were within your "allotment" of bandwidth, because of the stacked servers you would be using more than 10% of the server resources and you would see your account yanked.
Hosting services I trust and put clients with:
Moderate use clients:
http://hostforweb.com
High volume clients:
http://www.lunarpages.com
Dedicated server clients:
http://www.serverbeach.com

Yup! Pointless for me!

A very precise explanation why I'm looking for unlimited bandwidth!
You really seem to know what you are talking about White Eagle so thanks for your input.
