Wow, that's shocking. Never would of thought a stingray would have done it though. That's too bad.

I don't know what I should say. On the one side I liked his shows, but on the other side he involved his children into his dangerous work. It's no problem if he is hunting crocodiles with his life, but risking the life of others is one.

Very sad.
People who are so dedicated like him are few and far between.

My girlfriend woke me up this morning and the first thing she said was the Steve Irwin was dead. I thought she was kidding
Animal Planet and Discovery will never be the same without him.
Deepest condolences goes to his wife and two children.

If you click the other link there on that page. It says that they were not
actually filming for the
Irwin was in the area to film pieces for a show called "Ocean's
Deadliest" with Phillippe Cousteau, grandson of Jacques, Irwin's
manager and friend John Stainton told CNN's "American Morning."
But weather had prevented the crew from doing work for that program,
said Stainton, so Irwin decided to do some softer features for a new
children's TV show he was doing with his daughter, Bindi.
"He came over the top of a stingray that was buried in the sand,
and the barb came up and hit him in the chest," said Stainton."
That's messed up.

I always liked it when there was some venomous, ferocious, angry creature trying to chase him away (or just eat him), and he'd be in awe over the beauty of it.

It's really sad really. But you have to remember, whenever you play with fire you are going to get burned sooner or later.
