Yes, you heard it first from me, folks! So when everybody dumps PureBasic to use the XNA Studio, Fred'll hire a hitman and give him my picture. I'll say, NO! NO! It was Num3 who said it first, Num3!! Ahhh! (loud shots heard) (gurgle)

if there would ever be wii support, i'd say that's the direction pb should go for
why?
- ps3 is destined to fail (sorry, i always loved sony, but there are several things smelly... no rumble controllers... enormous price... blue what?)
- i don't like the 360 (in spite of it all, ms still gives me a bad taste), and there's already this gamestudioexpresswhatever thing (and it will make pretty damned sure everyone will have .net on their machines VERY soon)
so all that leaves us is to collectively support the wii

even though it sucks it just *may* become available in stylish pink or hasselhof leather black, so...

The problem with most of these platforms is - it is hard to actually develop, deploy & publish your program unless you're a bonafide content developer (for games) or a middleware developer (for tools). This requires an agreement with Sony or Nintendo. This is what's pushing the homebrew movement on PSP etc so developers can sidestep the official process. However these guys will tend to be always on the 'outside' since only the official licensees can see the APIs, get the best support, and have access to developer machines.

Hmmm - I wonder... Sony and PS have a solid ground in Japan and USA. If you look at the different developer forums for XBox360 and PS3, I think you are wrong. I think PS3 will be a huge Hit! A Blu-Ray player is about $1000 in USA and if you think about that, the price isn't so high.

I agree. I was standing in line in Tokyo when the PS2's came out. The queue was down 7 floors of stairs and out the street and around the corner.. The impetus? Gaming plus DVD playback in one unit. Sony is doing it all over again with the PS3 - touting the built-in Blu-ray player plus HD gaming. This, at a time (like the PS2 era) when HD movie software is just about to kick-off in a serious way and not many people own a Blu-ray player.

You should know that I will do the same... I don't want XNA coming to the mighty PureBasic.

i'm personally not so sure the ps3 will be the hit, i fear it's all going to be xbox360 and wii
wy? xbox360 for nextgen games (as its cheaper than the ps3 and i have yet to see mind blowing killer apps from the ps3) and the wii as it is cheaper (though a little too expensive to be honest) and it will be cheaper on software as well (and there will be some old retro stuff for it as well)
i don't see much place for the ps3
i may have a look at xna when it arrives, but i trust in fred to give us the one and only graphic and game engine to beat all others, even if i have to pay a little extra for it

Wait until the Tokyo Game Show next month, where Sony will announce 27 new video game titles for the PS3.

Got my download link via email today - 91 mb! Giving it a try...
oops! Requires Visual Studio.net 2005 C# Express Edition! What is this, some .net piece of shit?!? Argggh. Guess I'll download that too. jeez.
update: The VS.net C# download is 248 mb, installs .Net Framework 2.0, the XNA Studio uses C# code AND requires a runtime environment. Which seems like overkill to me as I always thought the .net framework already is a form of runtime. Have I got it wrong? Anyway, this thing is conceptually worlds away from the tiny, powerful and self-contained exe's created by PureBasic. I can't see where it would appeal at all to the same audience that PB does.

So when everybody dumps PureBasic
I will never dump PureBasic for ANYTHING.
