This might be useful for some people here. It's not the latest version but it is free :) The offer is available for one day only so be quick.
We would like to thank everyone who voted for us and made it possible for us to receive the SIAF People’s Choice Award for Best Overall Utility. Please take a few minutes to fill out the following questionnaire in order to receive your copy of WinRAR 3.51 non upgradeable version for FREE!

This page is for receiving the one day special offer of WinRAR 3.51 non upgradeable version for free. This offer will be valid on Sunday July 28, 2006 from 00:00 until 24:00 CET ONLY. After you fill out the following short questionnaire, you will receive an e-mail with a download link for your WinRAR 3.51 non upgradeable license key.
Go to:
http://www.win-rar.com/bestoverallutility/
Fill in the details and they email you a link to a key you download.

You can download WinRAR 3.51 itself from the main WinRAR site (at the bottom):
http://www.rarlab.com/

And if you think it is suspicious that the offer is on a different site, look at the Partnership link on the rarlab site and it links to the win-rar site.

Enjoy :)

How did you found this website?

I read about it in alt.comp.freeware and it's been posted in other forums. I guess originally someone found it from the Partnership link on the WinRAR site or perhaps in a newsletter or something.

not to downplay a free gift, but I for years have used PowerArchiver, it's not free but it handles just about any archive format, even ISO images.

Using TUGZip for a while, it's pretty useful, and free.

Thanks for the link!

7-Zip (open source and free) is also an option.

Thanks Mr Mat! I had always used WinRar in the past but I had never registered it.

@yoxola
Thanks for the tip on TUGZip - that looks like a really good utility too.
