I managed to install all the required packages exactly like in dracflamloc's tutorial (thanx) but now i get "Assembler not found" error. Before this I got "/root/purebasic/compilers/pbcompiler file or folder does not exist" but now i managed to fix it. I downloaded the latest FASM and placed it in the compilers dir. What am I doing wrong? Please help...

...you're running Linux as root??? hope, you know what you do..
If not, log in as "normal" user, there is no need to use the root account....

Thanks for the advices and help. I will install GCC today and I'll tell you what font it is. I think it's the default one.

You are running Ubuntu so you don't need to create a user in Ubuntu you can't even run as real root...without tricks^^
Well try to copy FASM into /usr/bin

Font?
Btw, you probably noticed that ubuntun takes very long to boot as most Linux distros do, maybe it makes you happy that dapper takes not even half the time (I'm using Dapper Beta 1 on my Main working mashine and I feel it's even more stable than breezy, (don't think it's as dangerous as using Vista since it's still Linux and you can fix nearly all problems)), It's astonishing, first I installed Hoaray then I upgraded it over the Internet to Breezy and now I updated it to dapper (very easy since they built the Upgrade feature into the software update tool) and it still runs very fine...

Dapper is made by tha same firm (Canonical)? If so, I'm more than happy to try it. Thanks for the info. It even seems that the BETA2 has been released... I'll try it today.

Yeah dapper is just the new version of Ubuntu, it will be longer supported than other releases (more than 3 years) and will also be very stable.

Can anyone please give me the exact order of the packages including the dependencies to be installed? I cannot install them with dpkg because the order is not good and they scramble

. My internet connection (VPN) does not work on linux so I must download them under win. Or better, can anyone make a zip file with all the packages including their dependencies and a simple install script? I feel like throwing Linux away...

well then you should download a vpn client for your ubuntu for example the "vpnc" package for cisico compatible vpns...
then you only need to use synaptic and install gccc, sdl, and gtk-dev (don't know the exact name but it's pritty simple with synaptic just move to the "all" section and type gtk then you will see wich is the development package)

I tried it but as allways, it doesn't work for me

. Gotta try it again with another client.
