Hi! I have allmost finished PureAV, a lightweight antivirus coded only in PureBasic 4.
The only problem are virus definitions... I have a pack of ~15000 viruses wich will be used in the databases, but I need more :D. So if any of you finds any malware/spyware/security threat in your computers, please PM me and I'll instruct you on how to send me the threats.
Help me help you :D

Sounds cool! remember to support the eicar test av!
However i doubt i have any malware in my computer, but if you would support things like spyware and other things like that it would be cool. When do you expect a first public release?

Well, it's not much :D. The engine is quite simple (in fact, very simple) but I'm willing to add some cool features in the next versions. I estimate a release today or maximum tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback 8).
P.S. I 'll maybe OpenSource it, but for now it's too simple...

A release today or tomorrow sounds very nice!

When does it scan the files..?
And does it have a memory scanner for already running processes? That would be cool :)

For now, it's just a little on-demand scanner. However, I've got some old code here waiting to be converted to 4.0 for a small on-acess scanner that could be easily attached. The processes are scanned as well, including all their loaded modules :D. I hope I'll have it finished today, but I am very tired. I got asleep at school .

Hehe i sleep always! Even now...
However it would be cool with a small on-access scanner! But first get the current on-demand scanner done (sounds cool with the process scanner :) be sure to run that before the rest of the scan!)

Well, I think I'll use it. It's very well made and big... But I can use it only If I release PureAV's source, right?
In the future, if anyone wants to join this project and help me with the exe decompression routines, I'd be very happy :).

>(sounds cool with the process scanner Smile be sure to run that before the rest of the scan!)

Thanks for the tip :D.
(Inf0Byt3 opens PB4.0....)

that's right. You can also look at clamwin, the port for windows, of clamav.

It's good but lack totally of "On Access Scanner".

i hope very good news!

I'd love to see this developed further - I hate the fact that most anti-virus are so bloated I'm tempted to switch off.

I do all my best to make it be an antivirus, not just some bitmaps and a logo, just as others... Open Source should make it even better. I hope I will finish it soon, but it's a pretty big task.

Well, not for now, I need some libs for 4.0 that exist only for 3.94 and I am writing them myself. I think it will take at least 1 month until the first beta.

What should I do? I need some input from you guys... I don't know what to do... Shall I continue with the development of PureAV? I think this is not an easy task and I would need some help with it. Would anybody use it :? ? I'm afraid it will be just another junky product nodbody would like. I've got some ideas but...
