Well, I can only say that they have a good imagination :D . If you really want to make cool sprites, I advice you to make 3d models in milkshape, max, etc and then take pictures of them in different stages.

i did buy it and use it (4.x or so)

i don't like his update pricing, got no problem with paying for an update, but 39 bucks was a little too much

I've been making my own sprites for my projects for the last 4 years, roughly, and I fully endorse Graphics Gale, works like a charm.

Fleath,

On your reccommendation I went and purchased Graphics Gale and it appears to be very good. However I have a question I am hoping you may be able to answer:

To save an icon with a transparent background, it appears necessary to do all the following:

Click on layer properties (...) and ensure:
Transparency is DISabled
Alpha blend is DISabled (how is this achieved?)

Ensure the ON/OFF alpha channel (layer icon) is OFF (white)

Ensure the top-left and bottom-left pixels are both in the transparent colour.

Could you please advise me which of the above are actually necessary to ensure that an .ico file will have a transparent background?

For Human characters i can recomand Poser. It is a 3d rendering tool aimed at displaying humanoids. It is very easy to use and reasonably affordable.

there is a free clone of it available here www.daz3d.com, but their program (daz studio) seems to be much slower (on my computer ;)).
