PureBASIC Version 4

There seem to be a few of these threads - but they also seem to go off-thread so here's another. :)

Some questions...

1. As I'm new to PureBASIC will I have to re-learn the language?

2. What are the main differences between the current and version 4 - graphics and logic?

3. When is it out?

Version 4 is supposed to be great and I'm sure it will be. But there only seems to be guesses as to what will be changed/improved - nice to get some sort of list from the author - rather than rumour.

So far as I know, I don't think you have to re-learn the language.. And there's no info on when it will be released.

EDIT: @dmoc: Damn b*stard! You posted faster than me  :!:

I'm sure you're right about not re-learning - but I would like some details on changes.

There will always be more rumours - enough already! :)

New rumour: Steve completes another program and the author completely changes the language until his program no longer works - not funny and it's happened before.

Calm down, I don't think Fred is that dumb. (I don't mean Fred is dumb, but I mean we're all dumb  )

I am searching through the forum, so far nothing than this is told:
PB4 will be the best!

 I think Fred and Co wants to keep things as a surprise.

Surprises can be good or bad can't they? :?

Yes, it can be that PB4 lacks something that PB3.94 has :?

It's like in Game Maker, after the release of GM 6.0, I still used GM 5, because GM 6 lacked very much. Even if it has support for 3D graphics, I still work with GM 5.

well, things are coming, on a monday :-)

i'm pretty sure some things will be broken again, and most likely your code will not run without some tweaking (that's happened in the past as well, as fred improved the language)

is that a bad thing? dunno... personally, i think it's a GREAT thing, it means that this language has space for improvement, development

for all i care fred can change the whole thing around as long as things get better

now, what *is* better would depend on your point of view, i admit that :-)

since blueznl seems to have the inside scoop, and stating on A monday, it should be on 1/30 (today), 2/6, 2/13, 2/20, 2/27, or even March ;)

From the Jan 1 post, it seems it was to take around 3 weeks or so, give or take.
