3Dengine for examples plus some other Qs.

I have re-installed fedora and purebasic. All appears to have gone well, however the camera and terrain examples complain that the 3dengine cannot be initialised.

So I have obviously missed something. How do I do this?

Also, are all the examples up to date? sdl (OpenConsole) and waponezii (keyboard) both complain.

Finally, after running waponezii and getting the message initKeyboard() must be called, when you run it again it says the source is already being debugged and asks if the standalone debugger should be used. If you say yes, it crashes on loadpalette path (even though initkeyboard prob has not been addressed).

So I need to do some things. Just don't know what. :)

You have to install sdl, and maybe to move the .so engine 3d file.

Hi Polo,

Thanks for the swift reply. :)

Running sdl.pb complains about OpenConsole. When an OpenConsole is used, it runs but does doodly-squat. Is that a symptom of missing sdl? Or a prob with the eg? (I'm clueless, so forgive any/all stupidities in this paragraph. And elsewhere).

Also, where to move the engine3d.so? Currently it sits in /home/[dare2]/purebasic/compilers.

Thanks! :D

for the .so, no ideas, maybe in the folder where you have your code, I don't really know.
For the console, same, no ideas.
Linux, well, I don't really like that stuff :)

Tried that (the .so in examples folder).

The two 3D apps disappeared into the never never.

But got an Ogre.log file with:
11:35:9: ArchiveFactory for archive type Zip registered.
11:35:9: An exception has been thrown!

---------------------
Details
---------------------
Error #: 8
Function: ConfigFile::Load
Description: 'plugins.cfg; file not found!.
File: OgreConfigFile.cpp
Line: 55
Stack unwinding: <<beginning of stack>>
11:35:9: *_*_* OGRE shutdown
Hehe. * Scratches head *

Thanks for the ideas.

you can then try to copy also the file plugin.cfg to your directory :)

Yeah, did that, and got back to 3D engine can't be initialised. Also getting heaps of initkeyboard() required messages - with or without initkeyboard() plugged into the code.

I have some learning to do. :)

Most of the examples run ok (gadgets, etc), so I guess I'm missing something.

Anyhow, appreciate your help. Thanks!
