There are a pack of 13 audiovisual chapters. It is the work from this man: Carl Sagan.
That is probaly, the bigger and more complete audiovisual-non interactive enciclopedia you can see in your life. So, i strongly recommend to watch it.

Are you talking about a DVD set or something on TV?

Yes, i'm talking about a set of 2 DVDs including 13 chapters which each one includes an update-info made about 10 years later.
I've not read his written texts, but the audiovisual collection i thing is enough.
I invite you to get it and take a look. You will appreciate it.
Rent the DVDs and copy it, use Emule to see some of it, be sure Carl Sagan wouldn't mind about this kind of "piracy"
Mmm... books are good. But, in general i prefer audiovisual info for science and tech stuff. Except for equations and maths.
