Damn i was sitting here listening to music and i heard a weird echo. It seems like all my programs/games [also flstudio and winamp] has gotten some kind of echo to all the sound they put out..!

What is happening?

Using a soundblaster or eax compatible sound card? check your environmental audio settings in the sound control panel, make sure all effects are turned off.

Strange problem I have had the same myself and had to go to the creative env control to reset the EAX effects...

I am not sure what does it myself - but hey it only happens now & then

Maybe your mic is on? Guess not...

And its making a duplex? but for that, in order to hear the duplex, there must be a slight delay (caused by pre-processing of the data in example) which wont be the case here.

A possible thing would be if the input device was the wave out mix... and he was recording something from such device, in such case there should be a "duplex" (but infinite). But thats not the case for sure.

If you cant get rid of the echo (make sure it sounds like the echo presets though and its not something else) reinstall the drivers...

Else, you have a window at your room, right? use it (throw the card to someone's bald). - but dont do it, this kind of stuff is 90% software-wise so the poor hardware has no fault, still it would be fun to do and see -

Nope its not like if it was a mic. And neither an infinite loop.

Yeah i remember something about eax but i cannot remember how to find the eax control panel!

@dagcrack: Well that certanly is a solution! I have threatned my card with doing that if it doesnt work soon!
