How in the **** can developers,
01, Name the installation file that you download to "Setup.exe"?!?!
02, Name the files you install in a game to filenames that spoil the whole game?!?!
i.e. battle_with_Eniac_the_last_demon.png, lvl44_final_paris.dat, train2brinkenstad.mp3, Andre_is_the_murderer.gtt
Arrrghhhh!!!

Shame on you!!!
GuildWars has pretty good naming convention, gw.exe, gw.dat & gw.tmp (only those three files). The same goes for Dungeon Siege, a minimum of files and still no delay when loading. WOW has ok name convention, no spoliers there.

I have a client from a zillion years ago who still runs a fairly complex app in QB running on a 486 with Dos (4 or 7, can't remember) with a 40mb hard disk. Cutting edge back then. The machine is dedicated to that app.
It also has wordstar!
He is slow to upgrade.
I got him ditch the abacus and switch to kalamazoo cards by explaining how much space he would save by not storing clay tablets. Then onto a hollerith card system by advising him he would save loads because he no longer had to buy confetti for weddings. Getting him to shift to the PC was a tough job! I had to throw away the hand-held punches when he wasn't looking!
I've given up on getting him to upgrade!

well my father is using a 30mhz machine to control one of the robots. They are online 24/7, 365 days a year. Never 1 failure. Running DOS only of couse.
He got new pc's as well but as long as these old VERY stable ones are still running, he will keep them
