Vista? Heh, the real reason they called it Vista is because everything that made Longhorn, "Longhorn" has been rippd out. While vista is a simple maintanence release of windows xp. (including indigo and avalon). Of all of the non-ripped features of this release of windows, it should be given out free :(

Its HASTA la vista.. though.
And its said just as you wrote it, but you already know that :P

I don't care if its called "Windows Porongo" or anything else.. if it works good, fast, efficiently, then good. if not, i'll keep on working on XP (for my job, trust me.. and yes, trust me.. I cant work with linux, although I like linux.. but why im even saying this :| I just cant use it at work ).

So, let them use any name you like it or not... its their product! although they should make some polls at least inside their offices to see which name likes more.. but anyway, there has been some explanations given about the why "vista" and no "longhorn" just check out at news.com for example.

Well, from what I understand, the name Vista is already taken, so it the domain vista.com ;) So they WILL have to pay-up to use that name ;)

-=Update=-

Windows Vista requires a DX9 compliant graphic card with at least 64Mb...

This is because Aero Glass, Aero Express e Diamond themes will need pixel shaders to work (we are talking about the BASIC GUI stuff... our beloved gadgets)...

I just hope Mac OS is released to work on all x86 machines...

MS is filling the pockets of their hardware affiliates...

Other RECOMENDED System Requirements:

mid range / high end - 64bit CPU
1Gb of memory
(The list goes on... But it's way too insane)

Who in hell builds an OS that needs to run on todays high end sets?

---

"Oh! It runs faster than ever!*"

*Tested on a Athlon 64 X2 3800+ with a GeForce 7800 card, 2Gb of memory, with a Clearspeed PCI CSX600 co-processator**...

** For the less informed the Clearspeed PCI-E CSX600 co-processator is
able to process 50 gigaflops of floating point calculations per second...
But costs about 10.000 dollars...

Its HASTA la vista..
On in this case 'At Last a Vista', replacing the name Long-overdue-horn.

How long have we been waiting?

I can guarantee that I will not be using Vista. I think my next PC will be a Mac Mini.

It was already stated a few times by Apple, that MacOSX will only run on Mac OSX specific intel machines.

Been testing the betas and they have way too many bugs, like longhorn's.
I wont say "too bad for them", its beta, so shut up everyone! But it ran very good with an fx5500 and an amd 64 processor with 1gb of ddr. Either way its not currently on a usable state.

Shannara,

True enough, but I'll be upgrading the hardware as well.

I'm more than a little fed up with reinstalling Windows every 3 months.

3 months? Woah.. It lasts me an year here, then it gets really slow.. cleaning the registry wont cut it anymore by then - Theres many mainteniment stuff going on during the year though. But one of the systems is on and stable those 365 days.
