OK guys, i guess not all of you know me, but i know you all , you bet!.
I see you people post code, help and all that stuff.
Those things are nice, when i bought PB i used to visit forums only for help
and thats it, i didnt do that because i was selfish , i did it because i tought that what should the forums would be only, ofcourse all this from innocence(!).

lately i am checking the generel discussion and offtopic forums, and it is nice to see we can share other things then PB, the first time i felt people are trying to help me is when i posted a question on the Generel Discussion board about Opening your own company, i was surprised with replys and i felt so good about it that people are helping each other and give opnions.
all this is probebly not new to you all but it is to me (too bad i didnt know what i was missing!), so it is nice to know we have here people all over the world from small ages to adults that have family and kids and we all share the same thing our addiction to PB, it feels so good to know that there are "others" like me that just love purebasic and the thing is that it is like a secret because even if you will tell anyone that knows computer programming about PB he will say :" :?: "
so i am happy to know that there are people , diffrent from all kinds of the globe that share the love to Purebasic like me.

sorry for the emotinal moment... anyway i think i am the only PB user from Israel and it would be nice to have like a page with a kinda map that shows where there are PB users and ofcourse WHO ARE WE?

dont you think?

(sorry for my weird english)

and finally i would like to thank you all to every each user that helped me, even those who think they did'nt YOU DID with your posts and even dumb questions.

thank you. :D

Well, What I got to say is probably a little offtopic, but it fits on this topic! You see, when you mention PureBasic to someone... They dont know what the hell it is, you say PB and they think its PowerBasic ... So that, apart from pissing me off... it pisses me off  ! When someone says he programms in VisualBasic.. I crack up laughting out loud at him.. Just because I know PureBasic is way ahead of it, and its better.. Say whatever you want to say, it is better!. Now.. When you comment to some Cpp programmer about PB.. they laugh at you... BECAUSE OF IGNORANCE? I must ask, and I must also tell you that when they see PB they shit their pants, but their ego is so big they undercover that.. and keep on saying PB is like VB to me (crap), and that pisses me off, but from another point of view.. Its good to know I wont see that kind of guys arround.

About the world map... Users density map... Nice idea, I would programm it in PHP and use GD2 for the image processing, but Im not up to the task, cant step away my projects even for 2 hours. I mention php... because it should be web-based, and because PHP is like PB to me

Are you from Jaifa by the way? (hope I wrote it well: question is.. because a co-worker lives in Jaifa, just because of that).

Cheers

Interesting comment about C

I love PB, but I still must admit that there is plenty that C can do that PB just can't yet. I can't wait for the day when it's equivalent though!

And of course this community is great!

Nice post Pantcho!! and very true. The PB forums have grown into a great community that is almost as addictive as the software itself.

If I'm being honest, I still spend much of my time reading other people's code posted on here mainly because I'm just not advanced enough to do much more. The day I can post some of my own code and have someone actually use it because it's what they need, I'll be a happy man. Until then, I'll keep posting nonsense and dumb questions for all the experts to laugh (or groan) at ;)

Funnily enough, I've had a couple of conversations recently with people (VB programmers) at work about PB. Typically, none of them had heard of it, but were interested in the code I had up on my laptop screen. One of them tried to create a program with identical features as mine in VB. My code is 20Kb. He gave up, saying he couldn't have done it in less than 500Kb without the runtimes needed hehe! The other guy seemed interested in the features and capabilities of PB. I pointed him to the website and suggested he d/l the demo.

Without this community, I'd have given up on PB a long time ago. So, to add to Pantcho's post....Thanks to everyone who's been patient enough to answer the questions and share their code and expertise. It is much appreciated <sniff> :)

dracflamloc, my comment was about Cpp (C++, c plus plus, c mas mas in spanish?) and not about C.. theres a big difference between them, apart from their ages :P, Sad that on some cases C can be better... So D could. (Hey D is to some people as extrange as PB ? ).

By the way.. Putting the thread a little on the side, what does Pantcho mean? Its close to be "pancho" which means hotdog in spanish... and some fools uses "pancho" like an offensive... Not me though, I would kill them... At least from the net

Yes but some VB programers feels like... They shouldnt move to other language, (ehh vb being a language? HA!, its not even supported by its developer anymore mwahaha, anyway...) Because they think its a waste of time to spend a month learning another language (thats from a VB programmer's mouth!)... They dont realise how many time they wasted already by using that piece of junk every single day... Ok, maybe theres a little amount of things that are already embebed, or supported by default on VB.. and its not on PB.. but that happens on every language as far as I know. And I remember someone doing some benchmarks here .. PB vs VB and PB won by far on most cases... so I dont see another reason of why someone shouldnt move from VB to PB. Maybe VB programmers lazyness to face the truth...
