Hi,

By the way, here is a new breakout-clone done in pure PureBasic...

Download setups (about 5 MB) incl. 30 Levels here:
http://www.x-beliebig.info/Download/MB/ ... _Setup.exe

Tipps:
If the ball hangs in a stone or it just jumps in a triangle, the <space>-key can help. It is absolutely rare but may happen...

I you lost all lives, you can resume the last level (without your points) using <F2> in start-menu.

To prevent the game from loading the music (on slow machines) you can start the exe with /M as parameter.

Hope you like it.

Had quick look at the game and I like. One small bug I found is that sometimes the ball seems to bounce downwards after hitting the paddle! I was hoping to wite such a game myself to learn how to write a game. Can you please let me know, if you used any additional libraries or DirectX calls to write this game. Will standard purebasic produce a game like this ?

why the name "Monja"? (nun in spanish), I almost decided not to look at the game, thinking that it might be sacrilegious. :lol:

Hi,

Thank you for your reviews.

@monkeyx:
It is written with pure PureBasic! No DirectX, Userlibrarys or other enhancements needed...

@jack:
Monja is the name of my wife. In germany this name is normal...
My wife likes to play such games (Breakout, Tetris and so on). But none of the breakout games was really good enough for her :wink: So I decided to do it by myself. I needed about 30 hours to write this game (including level-editor and drawing the blocks with PaintShopPro). I composed the music a couple of months ago. So it was an acceptable investment of time...

Hi,

@RINGS:
No, not Monika. Just Monja...

Please have a look at
http://www.vornamen-liste.de/vornamen-m.html
(not only german names)

As you can see, Monja is an official name :)

For those who don't like to use a setup:

Here you can download the complete game as a single ZIP-file including folders and sourcecode.

This link will last for a few days only:
http://www.tim-ag.com/MonjasBreakout.zip

Just decompress including folders.

I have to say it... Doom3 or NFSU loads up faster than your breakout game :shock: :? :?

Hi dagcrack,
Doom3 or NFSU loads up faster than your breakout game
Sorry for circumstances. Just start with the commandline-option /M to deactivate the music. You will see, that speeds up a lot!

PB seems to decompress the OGG-Format very slow...
