Paul Turley, the IBASIC creator, is thinking about selling the company.

IBasic

I tried IBasic. It has about the same commands as PureBasic (sans some of the graphics command), although you have to pay extra for command paks like the ODBC or database command pak...etc.
Also, the syntax is very hard to learn and keep track of. That's the brilliance of PB, the syntax has been symplified. A simple list box demo in IBasic is 230 lines! In PB you can do a more complex one in about a 1/10th of the space.
I've also used Liberty BASIC which is very good, but it does not do anywhere near as much as PB does natively. It is heavily dependant on API/DLL calls (which it does with many lines). e.g. In LB tool tips are done with about 5 lines of code per control. In PB is it one command.
I hope PB keeps the same development philosophy that has put in on top in my book.
Thanks Fred.

There is just one thing you need to do Fred and you could double what you charge (for English speakers).
You need to have a native English speaker go through and edit the help documents. Then you could charge more. The help files are good, but it is often hard to know what is being said.
Keep up the good work!

And now imagine that the one's reading it is NOT a native english speaking either...
Anyway, I haven't got any problem about reading it...

Fred doesn't have to... Some of us who speak English as our primary language can always help...

Someone on IRC (DarkGirl) should have spell checked and reworked the whole PB help to be more english friendly.. So may be for the next update

By the way. I talked to Paul over at IBasic and he is not selling. He just mentioned it as a possibility and more in the form of selling shares of stock or something to retire on. That's all.

Shame on me... I just realised your allusion to Megadeth's "Peace sells... but who's buying"... Nice done.

Well, there's some strange things going on over there! I bought three, and own two licences of
Ibasic, but gave up and registered PureBasic some weeks ago because I lost faith in them. Or
in him and his compiler, to be more accurate. (Whish I found PureBasic before Ibasic though!)
The reason I gave up was a never ending story of 'I need money, help me out or I quit'. I don't
need that, and moved on. Anyways, I tried to explain this, and the post (and others) was removed,
along with my login..
So I'm not a member of his small community anymore.

Poor me...
