				Windows 98 Crazyness..

I have a VMware install of Windows 98 SE and am seeing some crazy stuff with my listicon gadgets. Even though I *know* there are items to be listed I can't actually see any of them - the list shows as blank. I can right-click on the rows and my context menus work, so I know the lines are there..
Has anyone seen this nutty stuff on Windows 98 before?

I used to get something pretty similar with text disappearing, menus would be blank when opened, and invisible lists like you described.
The wierd thing was, it would only affect one font across the whole system.
Changing gfx drivers got around it, but I dunno how that works with VMWare.

Probably just a VMware problem. Never seen this on a real Windows 98 or on
Virtual PC with Windows 98 installed on it. If you've got a test exe, give me
a link to it and I'll try it with Virtual PC so we'll know for sure.

I still use Win98SE and I have never seen this (with PB <= 3.92, don't know with PB3.93beta).

haven't seen that under vmware, but i know the graphic drivers of vmware are not entirely up to it
then again, who's expecting
what version are you using?

Confirmed, VMWare does it but virtual PC doesn't..
A side note - Virtual PC sucks compared to VMware! Wow!
I get Virtual PC with my MSDN subscription but had never installed it until yesterday. It took all day to install Windows 98, then when it started it took most of the system resources and noticably slowed this workstation down. I have 3 virtual machines running at any one time under VMWare and never see a slow down...
Crazy!

Yes, the
Microsoft Virtual PC sucks, I agree. The
original Virtual PC (before
Microsoft bought it out, by Connectix) is fantastic, and IMO, superior to
VMware for speed and compatibility. I gave some example reasons here:

(BTW, I'm not the only one who thinks Microsoft screwed up Virtual PC,
there's a lot of disgruntled VPC users who hate how MS messed it up).
