How come I've never heard of Audiere for PureBasic?

Go here http://www.familie-schliess.de/audiere/ and grab it!

This should be included in the main PB package and can be because it is open-source!

Check this out, Fred! The hard work has already been done!

Finally, built-in ogg vorbis, FLAC, and mod support is a possibility!

This cannot saddly be used in an 'offical' manner because it's not cross platform.

there is also a *nix version (who cares about Amiga and MacOs X ??). Unfortunately you have to create your audiere.so for yourself and I have no linux skills. Any volunteers ?

Code: Select all

1. Isn't your request a bit late ? This page is open since a year
2. If changing the sound engine I would prefer fmod becuase it offers also sound input possibilities oxm and much much more.
3. You can use audiere without support from fred ...

But I'm glad you are using it :)

PS: Use version 1.9.3, it's stable.

MacOS should not be too difficult, since I'm sure that it has some sort of low level sound library that Audiere can use.

FMod is excellent, of course, but the problem is that you can not use it in commercial programs without paying a (substantial) fee. Audiere does not have this limitation, since it adheres to the lgpl license (open source). Mark Sybly pays a lot of money for the ability to use FMOD in Blitz products. Here is a much cheaper (free) alternative.

Maybe it's something Fred has considered, but just didn't have the time. Now that he is doing this full-time, perhaps we can look forward to seeing built-in mod\ogg\FLAC support in a near future version of Purebasic. Maybe 4.0?

Just a note: variable bitrate MP3s do not play in audiere correctly.
