Like I said in the other thread: I hope he has a plan...
Something like Linus:
- Have to code a OS kernel, this way in a few years I can make a living out of it...
Or Bill:
- Have to buy DOS from this other software company and sell it to IBM, this way in a few years I can make a living out of it...

Perhaps Fred should code some jaw dropping extension that many would be willing to pay for now rather than wait for it in version 4. That would give an income boost.
I wouldn't object to paying 20 euro for Macros and 64bit atithmatic, for example.

To an extent I agree. However things like 64bit arithmetic are core things.
My take is that Fred would be better off splitting off things like the 3D lib (or anything else that is a "discipline" in itself and outside of "basic" basic) and making those extra features/facilities an optional pay-for extra.
Maybe Camera, Billboard, Engine3D etc etc as an optional addon. The other that comes to mind is the database.

And he still has the day job!
He starts full time in january
Now that we are rid of his day job, all we have to do is stop Fred from sleeping

If PB is as good as it is with
Fred the part-timer behind at keyboard, just imagine the possibilities with
Fred the full-timer.
Best of luck to you Fred

Yes, I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for a native database library.
Good luck Fred, it's a great product and deserves to do well.
